I Love the Fall

I love the fall.

With its light smoky scent from distant wood burning fireplaces wafting towards me, there is nothing like stepping out into a cool, crisp, fall night. I’m always anxious for summer to end. Anxious to get to wear an additional light layer of clothing when enjoying an evening out. I appreciate nightfall that hastens the close of the day with irresistible, incandescent sunsets. Twilight that illuminates a color pallet I have come to call my own. Gigantic harvest moons remind me of my childhood and a mother who never failed to point out the beauty nature, specifically the sky, offers.

It means pumpkin patches and hay rides, historical societies’ ghost walks and costumes. Fall means football games, bonfires and treats. For the Prince Family fall is birthdays, our wedding anniversary and our infamous Thanksgiving Day Turkey Bowl tradition. Fall is a flame dancing from my favorite spiced pear scented candle and our home traced with all manner of autumn décor. Ornamentation that generates great anticipation for Halloween and trick or treating. More than sweets, in the fall, I look forward to the savory seasonal items that grace the pages of menus from our best-loved restaurants. We reflect on all that we have to be thankful for. Fall means treasured family time and fall means FUN!!
